The work involves assisting participants in a residential and/or community program settings with planning, leisure activities, community engagement, and also helping with administrative support. Team members working in residential program settings also assist participants with personal care.

  • Rate of Pay: $17.00 - $21.62 per hour

 
Requirements:

  • Able to build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with program participants, and other team members

  • Strong teamwork ability, and excellent communication skills

  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to complete within 6 months

  • Must have a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's License/Novice 2

  • Submission of a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required upon hiring

  • Able to stand for several hours, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50lbs

Casual Positions: have no regularly scheduled hours but shifts are picked up to fill in for staff members on vacation or sick time.

Program Manager

Southwest Homes provides a variety of residential and vocational supports to individuals living with
intellectual and physical disabilities. We are looking for a qualified and energetic person to fill a Full Time
Permanent position as a Program Manager. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing
residential programs at Milburn and Crawford Houses.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:
● Train and orientate new Direct Support Professionals
● Supervise, support and provide feedback/coaching to Direct Support Professionals
● Responsible for performance evaluation in consultation with management team
● Act as a first resource to staff in dealing with emergency or unusual incidents
● Developing, implementing and evaluating programs to enhance the individual’s quality of life
● Assist and support in transitions to and from programs for Participants
● Apply supportive decision-making practices; respect/support the individual choices of participants
● Act as a positive role model and advocate for Participants and staff
● Maintain regular contact with Participants to evaluate and modify individual programs
● Be aware of social and recreational opportunities and make provisions for participant involvement
● May make referrals to other organizations for additional supports as required, i.e. supported
employment, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, diabetes clinics, etc.
● Provide oral and written reports as required
● Uphold all policies and standards outlined by the organization
● Maintain personal and program confidentiality at all times
● Required to be part of an on call rotation

 

Key Qualifications and Competencies:
● Disability Support Worker Certificate or similar
● A minimum of 3 years in combined education and experience in human services
● Experience in a supervisory role
● Strong communication and decision making skills
● Team oriented, Ability to coach and motivate others
● Focus on Person Centered Supports
● Ability to deescalate emotional or/or physical crisis situations
● Proficient in Google Workspace, Strong computer and documentation skills
● Must have valid Saskatchewan driver's license and be willing to use personal vehicle
● Must submit a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
